06/05 -- The Division 2 State Finals were held at Caledonia.  State qualifiers for the Spartans were Pete Antor, Josh Carter, Chris Carrow, A.J. McConnell, Joe Yost, Seth Bouwhuis, Miles Thayer, Amber Jacht, Lindsey McKnight, Lisa Krupp, Naomi Reyburn, Tomi Tomson, Kaileigh Russo, Heidi Momber, Magan Antor, Sarah Raney and Jenny Konkle.

RESULTS:  Lindsey McKnight had an impressive freshman performance at the State Finals.  She placed 6th in both the high jump and the 200 meter dash and 8th in the 400 meter dash.  She was joined by 1600 meter relay teammates Heidi Momber, Kaileigh Russo and Magan Antor in placing 5th in that event with a school record time of 4:05.71.   Freshman Amber Jacht placed 7th in the discus with a personal best of 117' 7".   Lisa Krupp tied for 5th place in the pole vault with a vault of 10'.  Senior A.J. McConnell completed his outstanding high school running career with a 5th place finish in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:22.51.


05/29 -- The Spartans competed in the Mitca Team Championship Division 2 Meet at Corunna.  The girls finished in 3rd place and the boys placed 7th.

BOYS:   Freshman Adam Yost ran 4:42.11 in the 1600 meter run, earning 2nd place on the Millennium Milestones.  Justin Chapman set the sophomore Millennium Milestones record with 126' 5" in the discus.  Nick Montgomery had a personal best in the high jump with a jump of 6' 1".  Other personal bests were run by Eric Stouten and Aidan Fairman in the 3200 meter run, Josh Taylor and Miles Thayer in the 400 meter dash, and Josh Wolbert in the 1600 meter run.

GIRLS:  Lisa Krupp set a new School Record in the pole vault with 10' 3".  In her first time running the 800 meter run, freshman Magan Antor ran a Millennium Milestones best time with 2:25.97.  Lindsey McKnight won the 400 meter dash in a time of 59.28.  Additional Millennium Milestones records were set by Ashley Bowen (top freshman in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:26.94) and Jessy Rollston (top sophomore and 3rd overall in the discus with 96' 2".)


05/21 and 5/24 -- The Region 14-2 Regional Track Meet was held at Sparta on Friday.  Due to adverse weather conditions, the meet was postponed with two events remaining.  The remainder of the meet was completed on Monday afternoon.  The girls earned the Regional championship and the boys earned 2nd place.  Both teams qualified for the Team State Finals at Corunna on Saturday, 5/29.   State qualifiers for the Individual State Finals on 6/5 at Caledonia are listed below.

BOYS:  The 800 meter relay team placed 1st in the meet.  The team consisted of Seth Bouwhuis, Joe Yost, Miles Thayer and Chris Carrow.  Other Spartans earning points were Josh Carter, Pete Antor, Justin Chapman, Rob DeHaan, Brad Dauber, Tim VanNatter, A.J. McConnell and Aaron Wheater. Antor set a new school record with a time of 39.8 in the 300 meter hurdles.

GIRLS:  Regional champions for the girls were:   Amber Jacht - discus; Lisa Krupp - pole vault; and Lindsey McKnight - 200 meter and 400 meter dashes.  Others scoring points were Heidi Momber, Magan Antor, Sara Young, Justine Todd, Kaileigh Russo, Jenny Konkle, Sarah Raney, Tomi Tomson, Naomi Reyburn, Michelle Bluitt and Chelsea Miller.  McKnight set a new school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.1.  The 1600 meter relay team (Russo, Tomson, Momber and Antor) set a new school record with their time of 4:10.

05/18 -- The JV Conference Meet was held at Sparta.  The girls dominated the meet, outscoring the nearest competitor by over 100 points.  The boys also had a successful outing, finishing in a tie for 1st place with Cedar Springs.

BOYS:  First place finishers for the Spartans were: Nick Brouwer in the long jump; Adam Yost in the 1600 meter run; Curtis Humphries in the 400 meter dash; and Eric Stouten in the 3200 meter run.

GIRLS:  First place finishers were: Shelby Douglass in the high jump; Kami Cowden in the 100 meter hurdles; Chelsea Miller in the 1600 meter run; Becca May in the 800 meter run; Ashley Bowen in the 3200 meter run; and the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 meter relay teams.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Ed Henry set the freshman record in the discus at 109'.


05/17 -- In the final evening of the OK White Conference Meet, the Sparta girls placed 2nd in the meet and the boys placed 3rd.

BOYS:  First place finishers for the Spartans were A.J. McConnell in the 1600 meter run  and Pete Antor in the 300 meter hurdles.  Zach Kurek had a personal best in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:24.5.

GIRLS:  First place finishers in the conference for the girls were Amber Jacht in the discus, Lisa Krupp in the pole vault and Lindsey McKnight in the 400 meter dash.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Lindsey McKnight, Kaileigh Russo, Tomi Tomson, Heidi Momber, Magan Antor, Sarah Raney, Jenny Konkle, Zach Kurek, Justin Chapman, Pete Antor, Josh Montez, Jon Reynolds, Eric Wright.

NEW SCHOOL RECORDS:  The 1600 meter relay team of Kaileigh Russo, Tomi Tomson, Heidi Momber and Magan Antor ran a school record time of 4:11.3.  Lindsey McKnight tied the school record in the 200 meter dash at 26.6.


05/13 -- The Spartans had many great efforts during the first session of the OK White Conference Meet at Greenville.

BOYS:  The boys had two runner-up finishes in field events.  Josh Montez placed 2nd in the high jump and Pete Antor was 2nd in the pole vault.  Personal bests were recorded by Eric Wright with a freshman record in the pole vault and Justin Chapman with a sophomore record in the shot put. Montez also had his personal best in the high jump at 6'3".

GIRLS:    The girls had two conference champions -- Lisa Krupp in the pole vault and Amber Jacht in the discus.  Other noteworthy performances were turned in by:   Michelle Bluitt in the shot put and discus; Jessy Rollston in the discus; Naomi Reyburn in the pole vault; Lindsey McKnight in the high jump; and the 3200 meter relay team of Heidi Momber, Sara Young, Justine Todd and Magan Antor.


05/06 -- In a meet at Northview, the Sparta boys defeated the Wildcats by a score of 113-24.  They ended the season with a dual record of 5 wins and 2 losses. The girls won by a score of 94-43, and ended the dual season with a record of 6 wins and 1 loss.

BOYS:  First place finishers for the boys were Nick Schweitzer, Victor Jaramillo, Josh Montez, Josh Carter, Pete Antor, Seth Bouwhuis, Joe Yost, Miles Thayer, Chris Carrow, Rob DeHaan, Aaron Wheater, Tim VanNatter, A.J. McConnell, Zach Kurek, Josh Taylor and David Petrekovich.

GIRLS:  Placing first for the girls were Amber Jacht, Shelby Douglass, Lisa Krupp, Lindsey McKnight, Heidi Momber, Kaileigh Russo, Magan Antor, Chelsea Miller, Tomi Tomson, Jenny Konkle, Sara Raney and Katie Yahrmarkt.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Curtis Humphries, A.J. McConnell, Brad Dauber, Jessy Rollston, Naomi Reyburn, Tomi Tomson, Magan Antor, Heidi Momber, Lindsey McKnight, Kaileigh Russo.

NEW SCHOOL RECORD:  The 800 meter relay team of Antor, Momber, Russo and McKnight ran a time of 1:47.24, breaking the old record set in 1995 by more than 2 seconds.


05/04 -- In a meet at East Grand Rapids, the Sparta boys defeated the Pioneers by a score of 102-35.  The girls lost a close one by 73-64.

BOYS:  First place finishers for the boys were Tim VanNatter, Ben Klenk, Brad Dauber, A.J. McConnell, Pete Antor, Chris Carrow, Seth Bouwhuis, Joe Yost, Miles Thayer, Josh Montez, Rob DeHaan, Aaron Wheater and Nick Schweitzer.

GIRLS:  Placing first for the girls were Michelle Bluitt, Amber Jacht, Lindsey McKnight, Lisa Krupp, Kaileigh Russo, Heidi Momber, Magan Antor and Tomi Tomson.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Brad Dauber, Michelle Bluitt, Curtis Humphries.


04/29 -- In a home meet the Spartans defeated the track squads from Unity Christian.

BOYS:  The Sparta boys won by a score of 96-32.  Winning events for the Spartans were Josh Montez, Victor Jaramillo, Tim VanNatter, Ben Klenk, Brad Dauber, Randy Jacobson, Pete Antor, Chris Carrow, Joe Yost, Miles Thayer, Rob DeHaan, Aaron Wheater and A.J. McConnell.

GIRLS:  The girls defeated Unity 99½-28½.  First place finishers were Amber Jacht, Shelby Douglass, Lisa Krupp, Michelle Bluitt, Tomi Tomson, Magan Antor, Kaileigh Russo, Heidi Momber, Sara Raney, Jenny Konkle, Naomi Reyburn, Lindsey McKnight and Katie Yahrmarkt.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Josh Montez, Michelle Bluitt, Lisa Krupp.


04/27 -- In a meet at Greenville, the Sparta girls won by a score of 105-32 and the boys lost 84-53.

BOYS:  First place finishers for the boys were Rob DeHaan, Ben Klenk, Brad Dauber, A.J. McConnell, Josh Carter and Victor Jaramillo.  McConnell won the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run.  He also anchored the winning 3200 meter relay.

GIRLS:  First place finishers for the girls were Kaileigh Russo, Sara Young, Tara Trimble, Justine Todd, Lindsey McKnight, Michelle Bluitt, Tomi Tomson, Heidi Momber, Sarah Raney, Magan Antor, Jenny Konkle, Lisa Krupp, Amber Jacht and Becca May.

04/24 -- The Spartans competed in the Grand Rapids Catholic Central Cougar Invitational at Houseman Field.

BOYS:  The boys earned runner-up honors at the meet.  Victor Jaramillo placed first in the shot put and Pete Antor placed first in both hurdle events.

GIRLS:  The girls also placed 2nd at the meet.  First place finishers were Lisa Krupp in the pole vault and the 3200 meter relay team of Magan Antor, Heidi Momber, Sara Young and Chelsea Miller.

04/22 -- In a home meet against Cedar Springs, the Sparta girls won while the boys lost a close contest.

BOYS:  The outcome of the meet came down to the last race.  There were many great performances by the Spartans.   First place finishers were Chris Carrow, Josh Carter, Joe Yost, Seth Bouwhuis, Miles Thayer, A.J. McConnell, Pete Antor and Josh Montez.

GIRLS:  The girls won the meet 79-58.  Winning events were Amber Jacht, Lindsey McKnight, Lisa Krupp, Chelsea Miller, Sara Young, Magan Antor, Heidi Momber, Tomi Tomson and Justine Todd.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Lindsey McKnight, Kaileigh Russo, Magan Antor, Tomi Tomson, Heidi Momber, Pete Antor, Joe Yost, Rob DeHaan, Justin Chapman, Jon Reynolds.

NEW SCHOOL RECORD:  A new school record was set by Pete Antor in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.83.  The old record had been in place since 1992.


04/20 -- The Spartans were at Lowell for their OK White dual meet.

BOYS:  The boys defeated the Red Arrows by a score of 95½ - 41½.  First place finishers for the Spartans were Victor Jaramillo, Nick Montgomery, Pete Antor, Chris Carrow, Ben Klenk, Brad Dauber and Eric Stouten.  In addition, all 4 relay teams placed first.

GIRLS:  The girls won by a score of 86 - 51.  Winning events were Lisa Krupp, Tomi Tomson, Lindsey McKnight, Amber Jacht, Magan Antor, Chelsea Miller and Katie Yahrmarkt.  McKnight placed 1st in 4 events:   high jump, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash.


04/17 -- The Tri-Level Meet for boys was held at Coopersville, while the girls hosted the Tri-Level for girls at Sparta.

BOYS:  The 9th and 10th grade boys finished 1st in the meet, 23 points ahead of the nearest team.  First place finishers in this division were Justin Chapman, Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman, Rob DeHaan, Josh Carter and Derek Medore.  In the 11th and 12th grade division, the team finished 3rd overall.  Chris Carrow won both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.

GIRLS:  Sparta won the championship in the 9th and 10th grade level.  First place finishers were Amber Jacht, Lindsey McKnight, Lisa Krupp, Chelsea Miller, Tara Trimble, Magan Antor, Tomi Tomson, Sara Raney, Jenny Konkle and Ali Hammerlind.

04/15 -- At the first home meet of the 2004 track season, the Spartans competed against Kenowa Hills in OK White action.

BOYS:  The boys won by a score of 83-54.  First place finishers for the Spartans were:  Nick Schweitzer - discus; Nick Montgomery - high jump; Josh Carter - pole vault; Victor Jaramillo - shot put; Pete Antor - high hurdles and 300 meter hurdles; Chris Carrow - 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash; Eric Stouten - 3200 meter run; the 3200 meter relay team of Rob DeHaan, Ben Klenk, Randy Jacobsen and A.J. McConnell; and the 800 meter relay team of Joe Yost, Aaron Wheater, Miles Thayer and Carrow. 

GIRLS:  The girls defeated Kenowa by a score of 84-53.  Winning events for the Spartans were:  Amber Jacht - discus; Lindsey McKnight - high jump, 100 meter dash, and 200 meter dash; Lisa Krupp - pole vault; Jessy Rollston - shot put; Katie Yahrmarkt - 3200 meter run; the 800 meter relay team of Tomi Tomson, Jenny Konkle, Heidi Momber and Magan Antor; and the 400 meter relay team of Sarah Raney, Tomson, Konkle and Momber.

NEW MILLENNIUM MILESTONES:  Victor Jaramillo, Pete Antor, Jon Reynolds, Amber Jacht, Shelby Douglass, Naomi Reyburn, Magan Antor, Lindsey McKnight.


04/10 -- The Spartans had a successful day at the Kent City Relays.  The boys were the meet champions and the girls earned runner-up honors.  Check the Results page for more information.


03/29 -- Sparta competed in a quad meet at Allendale -- the four schools were Sparta, Allendale, Coopersville and Zeeland.

BOYS:  The boys took 2nd to Zeeland at the Allendale meet.  First place finishers were Nick Montgomery in the high jump, Pete Antor in the 300 hurdles, and Chris Carrow in the 200.  Ed Henry and Tim Momber won the exhibition throwing competition in the shot and disc.

GIRLS:  The girls placed 1st in the 4-team meet.. Winning events for the Spartans were: Lisa Krupp - pole vault; Lindsey McKnight - high jump; Michelle Bluitt - shot put; Amber Jacht - discus; Tomi Tomson - high hurdles; Ashley Greenup - 1600m run.  There were many personal bests at the meet.

NEW SCHOOL RECORD:  Lisa Krupp set a new school record (10') in the pole vault.

03/25 -- The Spartans participated in an indoor track meet at Central Michigan University.

BOYS:  The boys started their season with some solid performances from medal winners Nick Montgomery in the high jump and Pete Antor in the high hurdles.  Justin Chapman set a sophomore record in the shot put.   First time letter winners included Eric Stouten, Rob Dehaan, Adam Yost and Josh Taylor.

GIRLS:  The girls had many outstanding performances including:  Lindsey McKnight 1st in the 400 meter dash and 2nd in the high jump; Magan Antor 4th in the 400 meter dash; Kaileigh Russo 8th in the 400 meter dash; Tomi Tomson 8th in the 60 meter hurdles; Naomi Reyburn 2nd in the pole vault; 4th place in the 800 meter relay by the team of Reyburn, Jenny Konkle, Ali Hammerlind and Tomson; 1st place in the 1600 meter relay by the team of Russo, Antor, Heidi Momber and McKnight.
