11/05 -- State Finals at M.I.S. in Brooklyn

BOYS:  The Spartans put the finishing touch on an excellent season by placing 4th at the State Finals.  Each runner on the team ran a personal best time:  Eric Stouten in 16:03; Adam Yost in 16:27; Brad Dauber in 16:29; Nate Kober in 16:41; Aidan Fairman in 16:59; Rob DeHaan in 17:19; and Alex Matthews in 17:28.

Eric Stouten placed 17th at the meet and earned All-State honors.  His official time of 16:03.05  set a new school record.  Adam Yost moved into 4th place on the School Record Board and Brad Dauber moved into 5th place.  Sophomore Nate Kober earned the 10th place spot on the board with his performance.  Great season, Spartans!

GIRLS:  The Sparta girls were represented at the State Finals by Magan Antor (18:36) and Ashley Bowen (20:22).   Antor placed 13th and earned All-State honors.  Her time of 18:36 knocked 18 seconds off her own school record.  Great job, gals!

10/29 -- Regional Meet at Sparta

BOYS:  The Spartans qualified for the State Finals with their 2nd place Regional finish.  Eric Stouten placed 2nd in the race with a personal best time of 16:06 and moved up to 2nd place on the School Record Board.  Brad Dauber was also a medal winner in the race with a personal best time of 16:45.  That puts him in a tie for 8th place on the School Record Board.  Adam Yost's personal best time of 16:50 earned him the 10th spot on the School Record Board.   Also running personal bests were Nate Kober and Alex Matthews.

GIRLS:  The team barely missed qualifying for the State Finals with their 4th place finish, losing the 3rd place spot on a tie breaker.  Magan Antor improved her school record time to 18:54 and earned the race's 3rd place medal.  Ashley Bowen also won a medal with her 12th place finish.   Antor and Bowen qualified for the State Finals as individuals.

10/28 -- Last Chance Meet at Sparta (for runners not competing at the Regional Meet)

BOYS:  Freshman Nate Dahlgren was the meet champion, placing first with a time of 17:54.  Personal bests were run by Dustin Reed, Ryan Ford, Chris Rynberg, Devon Fairman and Jon Hill.

GIRLS:  Cassie Hill paced the girls with her 2nd place finish in a time of 22:29.  Personal best times were run by Hill and Mary Graham.

10/19 -- OK Blue Jamboree IV at Belding   --  Great Job, Spartans!

BOYS:  CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS! The boys finished in first place by 20 points, earning them an undefeated Conference Championship.   The top seven runners were Eric Stouten, Brad Dauber, Nate Kober, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman, Alex Matthews and Nate Dahlgren.  Running personal bests at the meet were Dauber, Matthews, Dahlgren, Andy DeLodder, Devon Fairman, Ken Johnson, Paul Savage and Jon Hill.

GIRLS:  CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS! The Spartans won the meet edging out Cedar Springs by 2 points.  The top seven runners were Magan Antor, Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Becca May, Dana DeBoer, Chelsea Miller and Cassie Hill.  DeBoer passed several runners in the finishing stretch to help earn the win for the Spartans!

10/08 -- Allegan Tigershark Invitational

BOYS:  The boys won the 15-team invitational with many outstanding performances.  Eric Stouten's first place time of 16:22 placed him in the 3rd spot on the school record board.  Brad Dauber and Adam Yost placed 9th and 10th in the Varsity I race behind Stouten.  In the Varsity II race, the Spartans finished 1-2-3 with Aidan Fairman, Nate Kober and Rob DeHaan who had a personal best.  In the JV race, Alex Matthews placed 1st and Dan Mead finished 3rd with a personal best.  Also running personal best times were Nate Dahlgren, Dustin Reed, Chris Rynberg, Devon Fairman and Kenny Johnson.  Great job, Spartans!

GIRLS:  The girls finished 5th in the 15-team field.  Magan Antor had a record-setting day with a school record time of 18:56, as she finished 2nd in the Varsity I race.  Katie Yahrmarkt placed 13th and Ashley Bowen 16th in the Varsity I race.  In the Varsity II race, Chelsea Miller paced the Spartans with a 12th place finish, followed by Becca May in 13th and Jenna Plew in 15th with a personal best.  Other personal bests were recorded by Cassie Hill, Emily Cooper, Jessica Darling and Keri Miller.

10/05 -- OK Blue Jamboree III at Riverside Park

BOYS:  The boys won their 3rd straight OK Blue Jamboree.  The top seven runners were Eric Stouten, Brad Dauber, Nate Kober, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman, Rob DeHaan and Nate Dahlgren.

GIRLS:  The girls had a strong showing at the meet and have now won 2 of the 3 Jamborees.  Magan Antor, Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Chelsea Miller, Becca May, Jenna Plew and Dana DeBoer were the top seven runners.

10/01 -- Don Baese Carson City-Crystal Invitational

BOYS:  The varsity boys finished in 4th place in a very competitive meet.  Adam Yost led the way for the Spartans with a season best time of 16:58.  In the JV race, Alex Matthews was the top runner for Sparta in a time of 18:40.  Nate Dahlgren earned a medal in the freshman race by placing 5th with a time of 18:21.  Running personal best times for the boys were Dahlgren, Rob DeHaan, Nate Kober, Aidan Fairman, Devon Fairman, Dustin Reed and Chris Rynberg.

GIRLS:  The varsity girls placed 6th in their division.  Magan Antor earned a medal with her personal best time of 19:21.   That time places Antor at the number 4 spot on the School Record Board.  Dana DeBoer was the top Spartan in the JV race with a time of 23:52.  Also running personal best times were Mary Graham and Jessica Darling.

9/21 -- OK Blue Jamboree II at Cedar Springs

BOYS:  The Spartans placed first in the meet with another great team effort.  The top seven runners were Eric Stouten, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman, Nate Kober, Brad Dauber, Rob DeHaan and Dan Mead.

GIRLS:  The girls came in second at the meet in a close contest with Cedar Springs, losing by just 2 points.  Magan Antor led the Spartans, and she was followed by Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Chelsea Miller, Becca May, Jenna Plew and Cassie Hill.

9/17 -- Sparta Invitational

BOYS:  The boys won the Gold division at the Sparta Invitational.  Eric Stouten led the way with a personal best time of 16:36, which puts him in 6th place on the School Record Board.  Stouten was followed by Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Nate Kober, Aidan Fairman, Rob DeHaan and Nate Dahlgren.

GIRLS:  Magan Antor was the top runner for the girls, as the team finished in fourth place in their division.   Antor's time of 19:33 earns her the 5th place spot on the School Record Board.   Following Antor were Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Chelsea Miller, Becca May, Jenna Plew and Cassie Hill.

9/10 -- Central Montcalm Invitational (grade level races)

BOYS:  In the grade 12 race, Aidan Fairman was the top Spartan with a time of 18:02.  Brad Dauber placed 2nd in the grade 11 race with a personal best time of 16:59, which places him in a tie for 5th place on the Millennium Milestones.  Nate Kober was the champion in the grade 10 race with a time of 17:21.  Nate Dahlgren placed 6th in the 9th grade race with a time of 18:56.

GIRLS:  The top Spartan in the grade 12 race was Shannon Upton with a time of 24:44.  In the grade 11 race, Magan Antor ran a personal best time of 20:20 and earned the 7th place spot on the Millennium Milestones.  Cassie Hill placed 5th in the grade 10 race with a time of 23:33.   In the grade 9 race, Jenna Plew placed 7th with a time of 23:13.

9/07 -- OK Blue Jamboree I at Johnson Park

BOYS:  Nate Kober (17:54) let the Spartans to victory.  He was followed by Eric Stouten, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren and Dan Mead.

GIRLS:  The girls also placed first, defeating Cedar Springs on a tie breaker.  The top 7 for the girls were Magan Antor (21:14), Katie Yahrmarkt, Ashley Bowen, Becca May, Cassie Hill, Jordaen McIntire and Jenna Plew.

8/30 -- Muskegon Orchard View Invitational

BOYS:  The boys placed first in the meet with an excellent team effort.  The top 7 runners for the race were Eric Stouten, Aidan Fairman, Nate Kober, Adam Yost, Rob DeHaan, Alex Matthews and Nate Dahlgren.

GIRLS:  The girls finished in 3rd place at the meet.  Placing in the team's top 7 runners were Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Cassie Hill, Jenna Plew, Mary Graham, Dana Deboer and Jordaen McIntire.

8/25 -- OK Blue/Silver Meet in Allendale

BOYS:  The boys began their season by winning the 13-team meet between the teams of the OK Blue and the OK Silver.  Eric Stouten led the way for his team with a time of 17:19.  In addition to Stouten, the top 7 runners were Adam Yost, Nathan Kober, Aidan Fairman, David Matthews, Rob DeHaan and Nate Dahlgren.

GIRLS:  The girls also started out the season successfully with a 2nd place finish in their competition.  Ashley Bowen was the top runner for the Spartans with a time of 21:34.  She was followed by Katie Yahrmarkt, Chelsea Miller, Becca May, Jenna Plew, Abbey Larva and Cassie Hill.

Summer 2005 -- The cross country team had a great trip to Wilderness State Park in June.   Many of the Spartans participated in the Michigan Flavorbest Apple Run in July.  In August they had their annual running camp in Leelanau getting ready for their first season in the OK Blue league.
