06/03 -- State Finals at Forest Hills Northern

BOYS:  Brad Dauber, Alex Matthews, Aidan Fairman and Rob DeHaan earned All-State honors by placing 3rd in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 8:08.53.  This was a new OK Blue Conference record and a new Millennium Milestone.  Justin Chapman had a personal best throw in the discus of 144' 10".

GIRLS:  Lisa Krupp was the state champion in the pole vault with a vault of 11' 3", equaling her previous best.   Lindsey McKnight tied for 4th place in the high jump at 5' 4" and was 3rd in the 400 meter run improving her school record with a time of 58.11.  McKnight set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.95.


05/27 -- MITCA Division II Team State Championship Meet (girls)

GIRLS:  The Spartans finished in 2nd place behind Grand Rapids South Christian.  Lindsey McKnight placed 1st in the high jump and 2nd in the 400 meter dash.  Magan Antor won the 800 meter run and was 3rd in the 1600 meter run.  Amber Jacht placed 2nd in the discus and Lisa Krupp was 2nd in the pole vault.


05/25 -- John Bos at Houseman Field (only field event participants from Sparta)

BOYS:  Justin Chapman placed 5th in both the shot put and the discus.

GIRLS:  Lisa Krupp placed 3rd in the pole vault, Amber Jacht was 4th in the discus, and Lindsey McKnight was 5th in the high jump.


05/22 -- OK Champion of Champions Meet at Rogers

BOYS:  The Spartans had two meet champions.  Eric Stouten won the 3200 meter run in a personal best time of 9:49.82.   The 3200 meter relay team (Brad Dauber, Aidan Fairman, Alex Matthews, and Adam Yost) also placed first with a time of 8:16.58.  Other Spartans who placed at the meet were Justin Chapman (2nd, shot put,) Rob DeHaan (3rd, 400 meter dash,) and the 1600 meter relay team of DeHaan, Dauber, Matthews and Fairman (6th.)

GIRLS:  Lindsey McKnight placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash, tied for 3rd in the high jump, and was 4th in the 200 meter dash.   Other Spartans who placed at the meet were Lisa Krupp (2nd, pole vault,) Magan Antor (3rd, 800 meter run,) Katie Yahrmarkt (4th, 3200 meter run,) and Tara Trimble (7th, 1600 meter run.)


05/19 -- Regionals at Comstock Park

BOYS:  The boys placed 6th in the Regional with many outstanding performances.  Brandon VanDriel ran a school record time of 10.8 in the 100 meter dash semifinals.  He finished 5th in the final heat and qualified for the State Finals.  Rob DeHaan was the 400 meter champion and Justin Chapman won the shot put with a personal best 51' 02.75".  Also placing first was the 3200 meter relay team of Brad Dauber, Alex Matthews, Aidan Fairman and DeHaan.   Also qualifying to the State Finals was the 800 meter relay team of Adam Holtzen, DeHaan, Steffen Schleicher and VanDriel.  Eric Stouten qualified for the State Finals in the 3200 meter run.

GIRLS:  The girls were Regionals Champions for the 3rd straight year.  Taking first place honors in their events were the 3200 meter relay team of Chelsea Miller, Tara Trimble, Katie Yahrmarkt and Magan Antor, and Lisa Krupp in the pole vault.  Lindsey McKnight qualified for the State Finals in 4 events:  the high jump, 100 meter dash, 400 meter dash and 800 meter run.  


05/15 -- JV Conference Meet at Sparta

BOYS:  The Spartans placed 2nd behind Greenville.  Devon Fairman won both the 400 meter dash and the long jump.  Nate Dahlgren won the 1600 meter run and Rich Noom won the shot put.  The 1600 meter relay team also placed first.

GIRLS:  The girls placed first in the meet.  Mallory Fuhst won both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles.  Other Spartans winning individual events were Lydia Reyburn in the pole vault, Michelle Michel in the shot put, Samantha Pfeffer in the 400 meter dash and Eilysha Sklar in the long jump.  The 400, 800 and 1600 meter relay teams also took first places.


05/12 and 5/13 -- OK Blue Conference Meet at Sparta - The win at the conference meet combined with a perfect dual record earned both the Sparta boys and girls the title of OK Blue Champions for the 2006 track season.

BOYS:  The Spartans placed first in a highly contested meet.  In the final event of the meet, the 1600 meter relay team (Brad Dauber, Aidan Fairman, Nick Brouwer and Rob DeHaan) secured the meet championship with their first place finish. The 3200 meter relay team (Dauber, Alex Matthews, Eric Stouten and Adam Yost) also placed first.  In individual events, Rob DeHaan won the 400 meter dash and Nigel Levy won the long jump.  Setting new Millennium Milestones were Justin Chapman in the discus, Nigel Levy in the long jump, and the 800 meter relay team of Adam Holtzen, Rob DeHaan, Steffen Schleicher and Brandon VanDriel.

GIRLS:  The girls won the OK Blue championship with many impressive performances.  The 800 meter relay team (Tomi Tomson, Jennifer Konkle, Naomi Reyburn and Magan Antor) and the 3200 meter relay team (Chelsea Miller, Tara Trimble, Katie Yahrmarkt and Antor) were meet champions.  Placing first in 2 individual events were Lindsey McKnight (high jump and 400 meter dash) and Lisa Krupp (pole vault and 300 meter hurdles.)  McKnight's time of 58.88 in the 400 meters set a new school record.  Other first place finishers were Jessy Rollston in the discus, Antor in the 800 meter run and Tomson in the 110 meter hurdles.   Setting new Millennium Milestones were McKnight in the 400, Megan VanderHyde in the long jump and Chelsea Jensen in the long jump.


05/08 -- Wildcat JV Invitational at Lakeview

BOYS:  The Spartans finished second in the 10-team meet behind Greenville.  Alex Matthews placed first in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 2:03.94.  Brandon VanDriel won the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.48.

GIRLS:  The girls also placed second in the meet.  Kelsey Braford won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 50.28.   Megan Vanderhyde won the long jump in 15' 03.75".  The 400 meter and 800 meter relay teams also placed first.


05/06 -- Eagle Track Invitational at Hudsonville

BOYS:  The Spartans were meet champions at the 7-team meet!  The 3200 meter relay team (Brad Dauber, Eric Stouten, Aidan Fairman and Alex Matthews) placed first in a time of 8:35.06.  The 1600 meter relay team (Dauber, Fairman, Matthews amd Rob DeHaan) won with a time of 3:33.53.   Stouten won both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with personal bests in each.  DeHaan won the 400 meter dash, and Brandon VanDriel won the 100 meter dash.

GIRLS:  The girls earned runners-up honors at the meet behind Hudsonville.  Lindsey McKnight won 3 events -- the high jump, 400 meter dash and 800 meter run.  Other Spartans having first place finishes were Amber Jacht in the discus, Lisa Krupp in the pole vault, and the 3200 meter relay team of Chelsea Miller, Katie Yahrmarkt, Tara Trimble and Magan Antor.  Krupp's vault of 10'06" was a meet record.  Trimble set a new Millennium Milestone in the 1600 meter run.


05/04 -- Sparta at Belding

BOYS:  The boys ended their OK Blue dual season undefeated by winning over Belding by a score of 100-37.  First place finishers were Justin Chapman with a personal best in the discus, Nick Brouwer, Josh Carter, Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Alex Matthews, Eric Stouten, Brandon VanDriel, Nick Arends, Adam Holzgen, Steffen Schleicher, Rob DeHaan, Zach Priest, Austin Suttner, Nigel Levy and Aidan Fairman.

GIRLS:  The girls also went undefeated in the OK Blue by defeating Belding 121-15.  Lisa Krupp set a new OK Blue Conference pole vault record with a vault of 11'3".  Other place finishers were Rachel Jantz, Chelsea Miller, Katie Yahrmarkt, Tara Trimble, Lindsey McKnight, Jessy Rollston, Amber Jacht, Tomi Tomson, Jennifer Konkle, Naomi Reyburn, Dana DeBoer, Kelsey Braford, Cassie Hill and Samantha Pfeffer.  Amanda Alber, Kami Cowden and Rachel Bradford all achieved personal bests in the shot put.


05/02 -- Cedar Springs at Sparta

BOYS:  The boys defeated the Red Hawks by a score of 94-43.  First place individual finishers were Nigel Levy, Justin Chapman, Ryan Penland, Nick Arends, Rob DeHaan and Brad Dauber.  On winning relay teams were Adam Yost, Dauber, Alex Matthews, Eric Stouten, Adam Holzgen, DeHaan, Steffen Schleicher, Nick Brouwer, Zach Priest, Austin Suttner and Aidan Fairman.

GIRLS:  The girls won by a score of 97-40.  Spartans with individual first place finishes were Megan Vanderhyde, Lisa Krupp, Amber Jacht, Jennifer Konkle, Lindsey McKnight and Magan Antor.  On winning relay teams were Chelsea Miller, Tara Trimble, Katie Yahrmarkt, Antor, Tomi Tomson, Konkle, Naomi Reyburn, Kelsey Braford, Krupp, Samantha Pfeffer and Rachel Jantz.


04/27 -- Sparta at Comstock Park

BOYS:  In the boys' competition, the final outcome of the meet came down to the last race, the 1600 meter relay.  The relay team -- Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Aidan Fairman and Rob DeHaan -- came through with an outstanding performance and clinched the 70-67 win over the Panthers.  Other first place finishers in the meet were:  Nick Brouwer in the long jump; Yost in the 1600 meter run; DeHaan in the 400 meter dash; Ed Henry in the shot put; Eric Stouten in the 3200 meter run; Justin Chapman in the discus; and the 3200 meter relay team of Dauber, Alex Matthews, Stouten and Yost.

New Millennium Milestones were set by Dauber in the 800 meter run, Nick Arends in the 300 meter hurdles, Nick Brouwer in the long jump, and Rich Noom in the shot put.  Personal bests were achieved by Dauber, Arends, Brouwer, Noom, Nigel Levy, Caleb Levy, Ryan Ford, Nate Kober, Andy Delodder, Dustin Reed, Matthews, Henry, Jesse Phillips, Adam Holtzen, Aidan Fairman and Devon Fairman.

GIRLS:  The girls won their meet by a score of 97-40.  First place individual finishers were Jessy Rollston, Lindsey McKnight, Lisa Krupp, Tomi Tomson, Tara Trimble and Katie Yahrmarkt.  On winning relay teams were Chelsea Miller, Erica Konkle, Samantha Pfeffer, Naomi Reyburn, Lydia Reyburn, Jennifer Konkle, Rachel Jantz, Trimble, Krupp, Yahrmarkt and Tomson.

Setting new Millennium Milestone marks were Lisa Krupp in the 300 meter hurdles and Jessy Rollston in the discus.


04/22 -- Cougar Invitational at Houseman Field

BOYS:  The Spartans were runners-up in their division.  The Spartans had many excellent performances, setting 4 new Millennium Milestones:  Brandon VanDriel in the 100 meter dash; Nick Brouwer in the long jump; Justin Chapman in the shot put; and the 3200 meter relay team of Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Alex Matthews and Rob DeHaan.  First place finishers at the meet were: Eric Stouten in the 3200 meter run; DeHaan in the 400 meter dash; Chapman in the discus and shot put; and the 800 meter relay team of Adam Holtzen, DeHaan, Steffen Schleicher and VanDriel.

GIRLS:  The girls placed 1st in their division with a great team effort.  Placing first at the meet were Lindsey McKnight in the high jump, Lisa Krupp in the pole vault, and Amber Jacht in the discus.   McKnight also placed in the 200 meter and 400 meter dashes, and Krupp placed in the 300 meter hurdles.  Jessy Rollston placed in both the shot put and discus.


4/20 -- Wyoming Park at Sparta

BOYS:  The Spartans won by a score of 113-24.  Individual first place finishers were Nick Brouwer, Josh Carter, Justin Chapman, Brandon VanDriel, Nate Dahlgren, Rob DeHaan, Devon Fairman and Andy Delodder.   The Spartans won all the relay races.

GIRLS:  The girls won their meet by a score of 106-31.  First place finishers were Dana DeBoer, Lisa Krupp, Amber Jacht, Jessy Rollston, Jennifer Konkle, Lindsey McKnight, Tara Trimble, Erica Konkle and Ashley Bowen.  The Spartan relay teams won every relay event.


04/18 -- Sparta at Coopersville

BOYS:  The Spartans defeated the Broncos by a score of 94-43.  First place finishers for the boys were Nigel Levy, Nick Brouwer, Brandon VanDriel, Rob DeHaan, Eric Stouten, Josh Carter, and Brad Dauber.   On the winning relay teams were Dauber, Stouten, DeHaan, VanDriel, Alex Matthews, Adam Yost, Adam Holzgen, Steffen Schleicher, Zach Priest and Aidan Fairman.

GIRLS:  The girls were also winners over Coopersville by the same score as the boys, 94-43.  Individual first place finishers were Lindsey McKnight, Amber Jacht, Tomi Tomson, Magan Antor, Jessy Rollston, Lisa Krupp and Ashley Bowen.  On winning relays werre Antor, Tomson, Chelsea Miller, Tara Trimble, Katie Yahrmarkt, Kelsey Braford, Jennifer Konkle and Naomi Reyburn.


04/15 -- Tri-Level Meet

BOYS:  The boys had a successful day at the Bronco Classic Tri-Level Meet in Coopersville.  They won both the 9-10 and 11-12 grade divisions at the 8-team meet.  The Spartans were also the overall champions combining the scores of grades 7-12.  Nick Arends and Brandon VanDriel set new Millennium Milestones.

GIRLS:  The girls also were meet champions at the Tri-Level Meet in Sparta.  Like the boys, the girls won both the 9-10 and 11-12 grade divisions, as well as the middle school division. 


04/13 -- Wyoming Rogers at Sparta

BOYS:  The Spartans won the season's first OK-Blue dual by a score of 126-11.  Setting new Millennium Milestones were Rob DeHaan, Eric Stouten, Adam Yost and Nick Brouwer.  First place individual finishers were Nigel Levy, Nick Brouwer, Josh Carter, Justin Chapman, Brandon VanDriel, Eric Stouten, Rob DeHaan, Nick Arends, Brad Dauber and Andy Delodder.  All of Sparta's relay teams placed first.

GIRLS:  The girls came out on top in their meet by a score of 123-14.  First place individual finishers for the Spartans were Dana DeBoer, Hanna Burmeister, Lisa Krupp, Jessy Rollston, Amber Jacht, Jennifer Konkle, Lindsey McKnight, Magan Antor and Ashley Bowen.  The Spartan relay teams placed first in all relay events.


04/06 -- Spring Break Scrimmage at Kent City

The Spartans competed in a 6-team scrimmage.  The schools participating were Sparta, Kent City, Belding, Cedar Springs, White Cloud and Wyoming Lee.  The scrimmage was not scored, but there were many good performances by the Spartans.


03/28 -- Quad Meet (Forest Hills Eastern, Kenowa Hills, and Hastings) at Sparta

BOYS:  The Spartans placed first by 211 points.  First place finishers were Justin Chapman, Josh Carter, Nigel Levy, Brandon Vandriel, Rob DeHaan, Eric Stouten, Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Aidan Fairman, Alex Mathews, Adam Holzgen, Steffen Schleicher, Cody Stamann, Nick Brouwer, Jessie Phillips, David Petrekovich and Nick Arends.  Personal bests were recorded by Devon Fairman, Ed Henry, Curtis Brown, Nate Dahlgren and Rob DeHaan. 

GIRLS:  The Sparta girls placed first in their meet by over 300 points.  First place finishers were Tomi Tomson, Lisa Krupp, Amber Jacht, Lindsey McKnight, Magan Antor, Ashley Bowen and all the relay teams.


3/23 -- CMU Track Meet

BOYS:  At the CMU meet, the following boys earned medals:  Rob DeHaan, Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Eric Stouten, Nick Brouwer and Ed Henry.  The 3200 relay team of DeHaan, Dauber, Yost and Stouten finished first at the meet.  Ed Henry scored a personal best in the shot put and Nigel Levy had a personal best in both the long jump and high jump.

GIRLS:  Lindsey McKnight won both the 400 meter dash and the high jump.  Lisa Krupp won the pole vault competition.
