11/04 -- State Finals at M.I.S.

SPARTA BOYS - 2ND IN DIVISION 2 STATE FINALS - GREAT JOB, GUYS!

BOYS:   The Spartans placed 2nd at the State Finals with a great team performance.  Eric Stouten placed 4th in 15:27, improving his own school record and earning All-State honors.  Also earning All-State honors were Adam Yost (29th place, 16:15) and Brad Dauber (30th place, 16:17.)    Nate Dahlgren, Alex Matthews, Nate Kober and Zep Zeerip also ran excellent races to help the Spartans to their State Final runner-up honors. 

GIRLS:  The girls also had a good day taking 11th place at the State Finals.  Magan Antor earned All-State honors by placing 10th in 18:32, a new school record.  Emily Frederick ran a personal best time of 19:32, placing her on the Cross Country Top 10 record board.  Ashley Bowen, Becca May, Katie Yahrmarkt, Holly Sellers and Andrea Kober completed the runners representing the Spartans!

10/28 -- Regionals at Sparta - Both Squads Qualified for the State Finals (top 3 teams qualify.)

BOYS:   The boys placed 2nd at the Regional 11 points behind Fremont.  Eric Stouten was 2nd with a time of 16:38.   He was followed by Adam Yost, Alex Matthews, Brad Dauber, Nate Dahlgren, Nate Kober and Zep Zeerip.  Stouten, Yost (9th) and Matthews (13th) earned Regional medals.  It was another great performance by the Spartans!

GIRLS:  The girls were 3rd in the Regional competition and also qualified for the State Finals.  Magan Antor was the Regional champion with a time of 19:54.  In addition to Antor, Emily Frederick (12th) and Ashley Bowen (13th) also earned Regional medals.  They were followed by Andrea Kober, Katie Yahrmarkt, Becca May and Dana DeBoer.  Great job, gals!

10/26 -- Last Chance Meet at Sparta - Top 10 runners earned medals.

BOYS:   Andy Delodder placed 3rd with a time of 18:12.   T.J. Blystone ran a time of 18:34 and placed 8th.  Other Spartans competing were Josh Wolbert, Colton Cnossen, Devon Fairman, Josh Patterson, Wes VanOss, Ken Johnson, Jonathan Hill and Cody Wilson.

GIRLS:  Holly Sellers placed 8th and ran a time of 22:39.  Also competing for the Spartans were Chelsea Miller, Casey Trimble, Stephanie Hull, Mary Graham and Sarah Debski.

10/18 -- OK Blue Jamboree #4 - Conference Meet at Riverside Park

OK Blue Conference Champions - Great Job, Spartans!

BOYS:   The boys placed first at the Conference Meet, winning the OK Blue championship with a perfect undefeated league season.  Individual meet champion was Eric Stouten winning in a time of 15:49.   Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren and Nate Kober all placed in the top ten and earned conference medals.

GIRLS:  Magan Antor (18:54) was the individual meet champion, leading her team to the OK Blue championship.  Also placing in the top ten and earning conference medals were Emily Frederick, Ashley Bowen and Katie Yahrmarkt.

10/07 -- Allegan Tigershark Invitational

BOYS:   The boys placed first in the meet with a perfect score of 12.  In the Varsity I race, Eric Stouten, Adam Yost and Brad Dauber took the first three spots.  Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren and Nate Kober took the first three spots in the Varsity II race.  In the Reserve race, Andy Delodder and T.J. Blystone finished first and second.

GIRLS:  The girls placed second in the meet behind West Ottowa.  Magan Antor placed second in the Varsity I race with a time of 19:03.  In the Varsity II race, Emily Frederick was second in a time of 20:43.  Holly Sellers won the Reserve race with a time of 22:12. 

10/04 -- OK Blue Jamboree #3 at Riverside Park

BOYS:   The boys had another strong showing, placing first in the meet and remaining undefeated in the league.   Eric Stouten led the way for the Spartans with his first place finish of 15:43, a new school record.  Completing Sparta's top seven were Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren, Nate Kober and Zep Zeerip.  Dahlgren ran a personal best time, as did T.J. Blystone, Andy Delodder, Josh Patterson and Jon Hill.

GIRLS:  The girls placed first in the meet with a great team effort.  The top seven runners were Magan Antor, Katie Yahrmarkt, Ashley Bowen, Becca May, Andrea Kober, Dana DeBoer and Holly Sellers.

9/30 -- Don Baese Invitational at Carson City

BOYS:   The boys finished a close second behind Fremont in their 23-team division.  Eric Stouten was 4th in a time of 16:13.  He was followed by Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren, Nate Kober and Zep Zeerip.  Matthews, Dahlgren and Zeerip all ran personal best times, as did T.J. Blystone and Jon Hill in the reserve race.

GIRLS:  The girls were 7th in their division, with Magan Antor placing 2nd in a time of 18:56.  She was followed by Emily Frederick, Ashley Bowen, Becca May, Katie Yahrmarkt, Andrea Kober and Abbey Larva.

9/20 -- OK Blue Jamboree #2 at Coopersville

BOYS:   The boys placed first at the meet with a great team effort.  The Spartans easily outdistanced the competion by placing 7 runners (Eric Stouten, Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Nate Dahlgren, Alex Matthews, Nate Kober and Zep Zeerip) in the top 11 spots. 

GIRLS:  The girls also won their meet and had a great team effort.  Magan Antor was the meet champion with a time of 19:47.   Sparta's top seven runners included Katie Yahrmarkt, Emily Frederick, Becca May, Ashley Bowen, Andrea Kober and Chelsea Miller. 

9/16 -- Sparta Invitational

BOYS:   The Spartans had an impressive first place finish in their division.  Eric Stouten ran a time of 15:59, his best time on the home course.  The Spartans put 5 runners (Stouten, Brad Dauber, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren and Adam Yost) across the finish line before any other school's second runner.  Matthews (17:02) and Dahlgren (17:06) made the Millennium Milestones record board.  Zep Zeerip and Nate Kober also placed in the top 20 and earned medals.  Zeerip ran a personal best time of 18:00.  Dustin Reed earned a medal in the reserve race.

GIRLS:  The girls placed 3rd in their division.  Magan Antor (19:04) led the way for the Spartans.  Freshman Emily Frederick ran a personal best time of 21:16 and earned a medal.  Abbey Larva and Stephanie Hull earned medals in the reserve race.

9/06 -- OK Blue Jamboree #1 at Sparta

BOYS:   Eric Stouten led the boys to a first place finish in the meet.  Stouten was followed by Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Nate Dahlgren, Alex Matthews, Andy Delodder and Zep Zeerip.

GIRLS:  The girls placed 3rd in the meet behind Coopersville and Cedar Springs.  The top 7 runners were Ashley Bowen, Katie Yahrmarkt, Becca May, Chelsea Miller, Andrea Kober, Abbey Larva and Holly Sellers.

8/29 -- Orchard View Invitational

BOYS:   The boys placed took first place in the meet.  The top seven runners were Eric Stouten, Adam Yost, Brad Dauber, Nate Dahlgren, Alex Matthews, Zep Zeerip and Andy Delodder.

GIRLS:  The girls were runners-up to East Kentwood.  Leading the way for the girls were Katie Yahrmarkt, Emily Frederick, Becca May, Ashley Bowen, Chelsea Miller, Jenna Plew and Andrea Kober.

8/24 -- OK Blue/Silver Crossover Meet at Cedar Springs

BOYS:  The Spartans kicked off the season with many great performances.  Eric Stouten placed first with a time of 15:57, improving his school record by 6 seconds.   In addition to Stouten, the top seven runners were Brad Dauber, Adam Yost, Nate Kober, Alex Matthews, Nate Dahlgren and Andy Delodder.

GIRLS:  The girls had their race cut short, as it was cancelled midway through the race because of lightning in the area.

Summer -- In July many of the cross country team members ran the 5K race at the Michigan Flavorbest Apple Run in Sparta.  The runners and their families also helped out as volunteer workers at the race.  The team had its annual camp at Leelanau from August 7-12.   It was a great week filled with hard work and lots of fun!
