Coach Pfeffer has been head coach of the girls track team for 19 years.  He grew up in Jonesville, Michigan and graduated from Grand Valley State University. Coach Pfeffer is a Sparta High School guidance counselor.  He and his wife Kim have two children, Samantha and Zachary.

Coach Marilyn Knight is the assistant coach for the girls track team.  She was raised in Sparta and became involved in the running programs at Sparta through the participation of her children.  She and her husband Tom have three grown children -- Heather, Michael and Heath -- and five grandchildren.

Coach Smith has been the head coach of the boys track team at Sparta for 11 years.  He was raised in Fremont, Michigan and graduated from Cornerstone University.  He teaches science and math at Sparta High School.  Coach Smith and his wife Tammi have three  children -- Trent, Thomas and Taylor.

Coach Thomas is the assistant coach for the boys squad and has been coaching track at Sparta for 40 years. He grew up in southwestern Michigan and graduated from Western Kentucky University.  Coach Thomas and his wife Nancy have two children, Michael and Angie, son-in-law Aaron, and grandchildren Audrey and Ryan.
